The Irish Social Science Data Archive (ISSDA) established in 2000, within the auspices of the Geary Institute, fills a long recognised need in Ireland. ISSDA holds an ever-increasing quantity of machine-readable data from surveys and official statistics (such as the Census) and makes them readily available to academic and non-profit researchers.  More

3 Simple Steps to Gain Access to Data

  1. Identify the dataset(s) you require.

  2. Print and complete the relevant consent form. (The forms are requested by the data providers.)  All forms can be located on this website.

  3. Post the signed consent form to the data archive at:
    ISSDA
    B105 Geary Institute
    UCD
    Belfield
    Dublin 4.
    You should receive a disc with your data within 5 working days.

NSD MacroData Guide

The MacroData Guide is a starting point for researchers and students looking for data on the environment in which individuals reside and behave.  Produced by NSD (the Norwegian data Archive), the guide will jump-start your data search by providing you with an overview of extant data sources as well as instant insight as to their quality and comparability.

19-08-10: The third in a series of data workshops to promote and support use of Growing Up In Ireland data will be held on Friday, 17 September 2010 at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin.  Those interested in attending should contact guiworkshop@esri.ie.  Places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
